Romano Prodi is an Italian politician, economist, academic, public manager and business executive, President of the Council of Ministers of the Italian Republic twice (from 1996 to 1998 and from 2006 to 2008). He was Professor of Economics and Industrial Policy at the University of Bologna, in 1978 Minister of Industry, Trade and Crafts in the Andreotti IV Government, President of IRI from 1982 to 1989 and from 1993 to 1994, President of the European Commission from 1999 to 2004 and from January 17 to February 6, 2008 Minister of Justice ad interim.
