The projects will be carried out in some classes, with students between 15 and 18 years old, in the cities of Bologna and Paris. The aim, in both school contexts, is to stimulate, through workshop activities conducted by artists, historians and tutors, the representative re-elaboration of the materials collected in the testimonies, thus creating a continuous dialogue between the historical dimension and the memorial dimension, starting from the subjective memory of the students.
Working on the history and memory of the Wall will be an opportunity to develop attention and sensitivity able to represent, and therefore critically grasp, the walls and inequalities that dot the everyday life of contemporary societies, a fundamental exercise to become protagonists of a future Europe, more attentive to the recognition and expansion of social, civil and political rights.
As far as Bologna is concerned, an artistic workshop will be set up supervised by professional artists linked to Baumhaus, a reality that will collaborate in the project and that together with the students will work to create 10 posters linked to the themes that characterize this path.
Subsequently, thanks to the collaboration with Cheap Festival, these posters will be posted on the notice boards of the Municipality of Bologna and will be included in one of the international events that will take place.
The theme will be mainly the construction and demolition of yesterday’s walls and today’s walls.
In Paris, thanks to the involvement of the Bibliothèque La Contemporaine and the BNF/Gallica, students will create an exhibition dedicated to the history of the narration and iconographic representation of the events of 1989.
On this page some of the products made during the project will be made available.
